This peer‑reviewed study introduces the Dynamic Multi‑Criteria Scheduling (DMCS) algorithm for managing computational tasks in smart homes using fog‑cloud environments. DMCS allocates tasks based on urgency, complexity, and data size, balancing latency, cost, and energy use. Built using Particle Swarm Optimization, Ant Colony Optimization, and the Best Worst Method, the algorithm significantly improves responsiveness, makespan, and energy efficiency compared to traditional approaches. The authors suggest future opportunities to integrate AI‑driven optimization for next‑generation smart home environments.
