This paper was completed June 2016 by Rethink Technology Research. This paper suggests the transformation of the distribution network will shift to one which embraces much more network-edge generation capacity, and less and less centralized electricity production or storage. Using current technology, examples are provided incorporating Energy Management Systems, demand management, blockchain & distributed generation and transportation, at both a home and city level, creating an interesting vision for the energy and the environment.
