This paper explores the market for streaming of 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels resolution) live events for TV viewing. The challenges of upgrading set-top boxes for 4K resolution, which doubles the bandwidth compared to current high-definition broadcasting. If the frame rate is also doubled, the total bandwidth requirement is tripled. The challenges of upgrading production, transmission, and decoding equipment are presented.
